You need a dedicated HDMI-to-DisplayPort converter instead.

Will this work the other way around, from HDMI to DisplayPort?

No. This cable is uni-directional. The DisplayPort end must connect to the source device — your PC or graphics card — and the HDMI end to the monitor, TV or projector. If your source only has HDMI, you need an HDMI-to-DisplayPort converter instead.

Does it carry audio as well as video?

HDMI carries audio and video together, so sound from your PC can travel to a TV or a monitor with built-in speakers. You may still need to select the HDMI device as your output in Windows or macOS sound settings.

Do I need to install anything?

No. It is plug and play with no drivers or software. Connect both ends, then choose the correct input on your display.

Will it work with my USB-C laptop?

Not directly. This cable needs a full-size DisplayPort on the source device. If your laptop only has USB-C, use our USB-C to HDMI cable instead.
