Honest limitations

This is a full-size HDMI male-to-male cable. It will not connect a mini-HDMI or micro-HDMI port without an adapter, and it does not convert between standards — it cannot connect a USB-C laptop to an HDMI screen (use our USB-C to HDMI cable for that) or a DisplayPort output to an HDMI monitor (use our DP to HDMI cable). The picture you get is also set by the weakest link in the chain: a 4K@60Hz signal needs a source and a display that both support it.

Yes — the cable carries up to 4K@60Hz with 18Gbps of bandwidth. You will only see 4K@60Hz if the source device and the display both support it as well; on a 1080p screen or an older console the cable simply runs at whatever that gear supports.

Which length should I choose, 2 metres or 5 metres?

Two metres suits a desk — laptop to monitor, or a console sitting in the same cabinet as the TV. Five metres is for wall-mounted TVs, ceiling-mounted projectors and meeting rooms where the source is across the room. Choose from the dropdown above.

Will it work with my PlayStation or Xbox?

Yes. It is a standard full-size HDMI cable and works with PlayStation and Xbox consoles, Nintendo Switch docks, streaming boxes, Blu-ray players and set-top boxes.

Can I use it to connect my USB-C laptop to a monitor?

No — not on its own. This cable has HDMI connectors at both ends. If your laptop only has USB-C, you need either our USB-C to HDMI cable, or a hub with an HDMI port such as our 7-in-1 USB-C Hub, and then this cable from the hub to the screen.

Does it carry sound as well as picture?
